Christel House Works...
Transforming Lives

home1

Christel House South Africa (CHSA) endeavours to break the cycle of poverty by providing a holistic learning experience for each child. We recognise that poor children come to the classroom not just without the ability to read and write, but with social problems as well, often hungry and living in dysfunctional families.

Our approach is different. Through our unique education model, we are able to nurture and develop learners into responsible and productive adults – free of the clutches of poverty.

100% of your donations go directly towards our children’s education and development.

G.U.D. Holdings sponsors thirty more bursaries to Christel House Learners

G.U.D. Holdings recently committed to providing education bursaries to thirty Christel House learners over the next three year period. In mid July G.U.D. Holdings representatives attended a handover ceremony at the school in Cape Town to personally present the donation.

The investment is a result of the long term partnership between G.U.D. and Christel House South Africa. In 2011 G.U.D. offered bursaries to thirty learners from Grade 10 – Grade 12, who will be graduating from Christel House at the end of the year. The 100% matric pass rate over the past few years is testament to the successes being achieved at the school.

Red Shuttleworth, C.E.O., G.U.D. Holdings addressed the previous bursary recipients during a special assembly: “We are extremely proud of your outstanding achievements, we encourage you to apply this success to all areas of your life.” He congratulated the thirty new bursary recipients and encouraged them to work hard so they can overcome any obstacles to success.

The Christel House foundation, an independent school in Cape Town, continues to give its pupils from some of the poorest communities an opportunity out of poverty through an educational experience based on core values such as discipline and hard work.

Volunteer Programmes

Christel House South Africa also welcomes volunteers from the global community every year. In the past we have partnered with organisations like the University of North Carolina, Kick Start and the University of Connecticut and have been astounded by the giving hearts of the individuals who come to volunteer at our school.

Volunteers come as teaching assistants, library assistants, social workers and guidance counsellors or as experts in psychology, occupational therapy and remedial teaching.
