Christel House has successfully reached our parents and community members through a series of dynamic and engaging workshops focused on contemporary issues. These workshops have not only broken the silence around issues such as domestic violence and HIV/AIDS but also have provided a community forum where common concerns are aired, where knowledge is imparted, where misunderstandings are resolved and where individuals are empowered to take action. The workshops have also given participants renewed confidence and a belief in their own abilities. They have also resulted in job placement for many participants, enthusiastic support for academic achievement, and ongoing commitment to continued participation.
Transforming marginalised and impoverished communities is a long term endeavour. The parent/community outreach workshops are conducted by external NGO collaborating organizations whose missions and values are complementary to our own.

HIV/AIDS Awareness
More than 50% of our school community is affected in some way by by HIV/AIDS Our children turn to Christel House South Africa to help them separate fact from fiction about the disease, and HIV/AIDS awareness and education forms part of our curriculum at every grade level. We maintain an ongoing awareness and prevention campaign to ensure that our children make informed decisions based on knowledge and facts. Similar programs are conducted for parents and communities.
