Service learning and good citizenship are important cornerstones of the Christel House educational philosophy. Through service learning projects students experience the joy of giving to others, and learn that they can make a real contribution to their communities. Whether it is making and serving soup to the community's homeless or cleaning up debris on a Cape Town beach, our students are empowered, and understand in very concrete terms how fortunate they are to attend Christel House. In their words, "We want to give back to other children because we received so much love and care from Christel House."
Typical service learning activities include visiting children who are in hospital or orphanages, and spending with the aged at Old Age Homes, where learners read and talk to residents.
